Carbon Fibre has the best Anti Heat Transfer properties of all the Materials we construct the OTR's from and with its High Gloss Finish also has the ultimate look to go with its function.
XAIR Performance specialises in the manufacture of Over The Radiator Cold Air Intakes for Commodore and has been manufacturing this type of product for over 11 years.
The main advantage over other OTRCAI 's is the Venturi effect created by the top shape of the XAIR OTR Body combined with the Filter Size. A massive voluime of Cold Air from in front of the Radiator is rammed/sucked straight through the filter then channelled directly up and around the curved top section creating a Venturi effect and forcing its way into the Throttle Body.
The XAIR OTR has the largest air filter panel on the market, the filter size is 460mm x 180mm. Extensive testing and research has proven that the larger the area, the less restriction & servicing required. This also makes them ideal for head & cam modified cars etc.
The filter brand is Green Filter – known to be one of the best in the world (as used on World Rally Cars) and proven to flow substantially more and filtrate finer dust particles than other brands such as K&N etc. In 99% of applications the Green Filters do not require re-oiling, simply wash with warm soapy water every standard 10,000km or 15,000km Service! Guaranteed for 100,000km!The price on the filter alone is $199.00, this is a top quality filter.
Easy to bolt on in under an hour yourself! All kits are supplied with step by step pictured installation instructions. Note : VT & VX cars require the AC Condenser to be pushed back towards the Radiator to allow the bottom of the XAIR OTR Body to fit down in front between the subframe, as shown in the included instructions. VY and VZ have the Condenser hard up against the Radiator already.
Will also fit same generation WH, WK, WL Statesman, Caprice and HSV Grange Models.
A unique feature of all XAIR OTRCAI's is the ability to run them with the factory Air Flow Meter (MAF) left in. So unlike other products that require the car to be mafless tuned to work you can now bolt them straight on without a tune to get INSTANT POWER GAINS AND FUEL SAVINGS.
The Standard OTR Kit comes with Silicon Attachment Hoses & Stainless Steel Hose Clamps for installing with the MAF. Also includes Breather Line Extension Hose for VZ Cars.
There is also a pre-drilled hole in the back of the OTRCAI Body with rubber bung for plug in of the separate Air Temp Sensor if Tuning MAFLESS on VZ. The OTR Kit can also be supplied with Mafless Attachment Hose for no extra cost, please choose MAF In or MAFLESS from the list when ordering.
The VT-VZ Model was fitted to our 2004 VY SS 5.7 ls1 manual wagon test car back in April 2010. The car was completely standard as per the factory except for Cats removed and we did a straight before and after back to back dyno run with the MAF left in. Installation time was less than half an hour.
At the wheels it made 199.2kw before and 220.9kw after the OTRCAI was installed. Torque went from 356nm to 397nm. Thats over an 11% increase in power and torque.
The difference in driving on the road is massively noticeable compared to other OTR's especially the increased throttle response. Plus we dropped an instant 2.2 litres per/100km in average fuel consumption.
One of our Tuning Companies dyno'd the car before and after we fitted the OTRCAI. With the gains made they commented that the XAIR OTRCAI is the best value for money bolt on performace modification you can buy for V8 Commodore.
We then fitted HSV VY2 Headers and a Big Bore Exhaust plus plus a MAFLESS Tune. As you can see from the top lines on the Dyno Sheet Graph it made 250.5kw and 450.9 Nm of Torque after the Mafless Tune which is a further 13% increase in power and torque. Fuel consumption has dropped by a further 3.4 litres / 100km.
The X-Air High Flow OTRCAI Body has been designed to create a Venturi effect and Ram Cold Air in. Combined with the High Flow Green Filter this means that your car is receiving a lot more volume of cold air than was ever intended hence a lot more power and torque is being made. This is typically at least 20kw and 40nm more at the rear wheels (26kw/50nm at Engine) than factory standard.
On some models we’ve found this exceeds the factory Torque Management settings. If you feel the car hesitate slightly during heavy acceleration then your car is probably making too much power for the standard settings.
If the above is happening then we recommend you take your car to a reputable tuning company and get the settings modified.
To make the most out of the OTRCAI a full MAF or MAFLESS Custom Dyno Tune should be done. Expect an additional 15-20kw gain plus even better fuel economy over just bolting on the XAIR OTRCAI.

Simply email us your car make/model and year along with a list of modifications and bolt on parts. Courier your Car ECU to us and we will Flash the best Tune into your ECU relevant to your modifications and courier back to you.
Your Existing Factory surrounds can be simply trimmed/cut to shape to suit the Plastic OTR Intake as pictured.
If you want a "Better Than Factory" underbonnet finish and you've bought the Carbon Fibre or Gloss Black XAIR OTR matching Radiator Cover Surrounds are also available as pictured.
Dynaliner is a Anti Heat Transfer Material that we've been using on the back of our XAIR OTR's in race car applications with great success. Intake temperatures have been as much as 5 degrees lower again with Dynaliner installed! It can be supplied for Gloss Black and Carbon Fibre OTR Intakes only. Not suitable for Plastic OTR's as it doesn't stick to plastic. Order Separately.
Depending on driving conditions (exposure to dirt/debris/mud etc) with regular cleaning the XAIR OTR Green Filter should last up to 100000km. Order Replacement Green Filters and Cleaning Kits Separately.
