All 5th Gen Model Camaros with Automatic Transmission used the L99 6.2 Engine with Active Fuel Management (AFM). This is the same as the LS3 Engine in the Manuals except 4 cylinders deactivate under light throttle to save fuel and includes VVT (Variable Valve Timing). It runs a slightly different profile camshaft than LS3 hence factory power output of only 298kw / 400hp. GM also put an even quieter more restrictive exhaust on these auto cars to mask the distinctive change in sound when the four cylinders deactivate. So anytime you add aftermarket Rear Mufflers or Big Bore Exhaust to these L99 cars you are faced with a noticable non V8 Sounding drone under light throttle as they go into four cylinder deactivation. All our Retune Packages include turning off of the AFM mode so your V8 runs and sounds like it should on 8 cylinders all the time!
All Stages of Power Packages are based on installing into a STANDARD Car. Every Stage includes all the parts listed including Installation and GST so simply choose any Stage you want from the get go, you don't need to do each stage. This is a full Drive in Drive Out Service. If your car already has some existing parts in a Stage then please contact us for a quote to do the rest.
L99 6.2 Engines have a lot of power potential as they have the higher flowing Rectangular Port Heads (same as L98 and LS3). AFM components are not suitable for aftermarket Camshaft installs or Superchargers so require an AFM Delete Kit for Stages 4 & 5 which is included in the price. L99 AFM Lifters are a known weakpoint in higher km cars so for longterm reliability this is a bonus as we also remove the Heads and install new Genuine LS7 Lifters, Head Gaskets and Head Bolts etc as part of the AFM delete kit.
